Florida Today reported on April 3, 2010 that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) weighed in on the topic of Chinese drywall last Friday, saying “homes with Chinese drywall should be gutted”. The impact of Chinese or “Toxic” drywall on real estate sales will continue to grow as consumers become more aware of the potential dangers associated with this material. It has been reported that 3.7 million pounds of Chinese drywall was shipped into Port Canaveral in 2006. Subsequent shipment to local suppliers has been confirmed along with the existence of Chinese drywall in Brevard County homes. Home buyers need the assurance that the home they are about to purchase is free from Chinese drywall.
