St. Lucie Police Athletic League will host its annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser
on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the city-owned Saints Golf Course. Proceeds will go
directly to benefit the League in its mission to reduce juvenile crime and
delinquency in the community.

The City
of Port St. Lucie will hold a public auction of surplus vehicles and equipment
on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Public Works Department, 450 S.W.

The Port
St. Lucie Police Department’s Juvenile Restorative Justice Initiative and
Florida Atlantic University are collaborating to offer 14 weeks of free coaching
and mentoring for local youth. The public is invited to learn more about this
unique program at a meeting scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22 at noon.

Hazardous Waste Collection Day coming soon
The fall
is a perfect time for residents to clean out their garages and sheds, getting
rid of all those household hazardous waste items in a safe manner. The bi-annual
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12
from 8 a.m. to noon.

Memorial Tribute slated for Civic Center
The Civic
Center’s Village Square will be the setting for a moving 9/11 Memorial Tribute
that will include a two-week photograph and memorabilia exhibit in the center’s
Art Gallery.
Organizers
are asking the public to submit photographs and other artifacts related to that
fateful day, to be displayed in the Art Gallery during the two-week
exhibition.

Skate
City, located at Whispering Pines Park, is holding a back-to-school skate board
competition for ages 6 and older on Saturday, Aug. 29. Registration begins at 9
