City
hopes Dec. 4 closing of Community Center’s Fitness Center will be temporary
The Parks
and Recreation Department has announced that the Hospital Corporation of America
has terminated its lease agreement to operate the Fitness Center at the Port St.
Lucie Community Center. As a result, the Fitness Center will no longer be
operational as of Friday, Dec. 4.
The city
has extended a special offer to affected Fitness Center members to use the Civic
Center's Fitness Center for a limited time, free of charge.

PSL
offers two programs for kids off from school on Nov. 25
Kids are
already looking forward to their next day off from school on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Parents can look forward to treating their children to a day of fun, thanks to
two programs offered by the City of Port St. Lucie.
Camp
Kids Day Out is for children ages 6 to 11. Held at the Minsky Gym from 7:30
a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the cost is just $14.35.
At the
Port St. Lucie Civic Center, children ages 6 to 15 can enjoy After
the Bell, also held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at a cost of
$14.35. |

World
AIDS Awareness Week kicks off at PSL Community Center
The Port
St. Lucie Community Center will be the center of activity beginning Saturday,
Nov. 28 at 10 a.m., when a full week of HIV/AIDS education and prevention events
is launched as part of World AIDS Awareness Week.

volunteer committee is hard at work planning Port St. Lucie’s 50th anniversary
celebration. The city’s jubilee activities will kick-off Sunday, April 24, 2011,

Festival
of Lights and Tree Lighting to kick off 2009 holiday season

Lucie’s annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting ceremony will combine this
year at the Civic Center for a glorious, sparkling start to the holiday season.
The
festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, and won’t end until a
dance party follows a fantastic fireworks display, bringing the event to a
rockin’ end.

From now
until Monday, Nov. 23, the city's Human Resources Department will be collecting
boxes of macaroni and cheese and other non-perishables for delivery to the
Treasure Coast Food Bank, which will pick up the donations just before
