Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting to kick off 2009 holiday season

Port St. Lucie’s annual Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting ceremony will combine this year at the Civic Center for a glorious, sparkling start to the holiday season.

The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, and won’t end until a dance party follows a fantastic fireworks display, bringing the event to a rockin’ end.

Food drive

From now until Monday, Nov. 23, the city's Human Resources Department will be collecting boxes of macaroni and cheese and other non-perishables for delivery to the Treasure Coast Food Bank, which will pick up the donations just before Thanksgiving.

Community race and walk to help niece of PSL police officer

Charity 5k run and one mile walk

This 5K run and one mile fun walk set for Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. in Tradition Square will benefit a local teenager whose father died in a scuba diving accident in July.
